WSCO Esports Eligibility Requirements

Students interested in joining the Esports team at Washington State must: 

  •  Be a Full-Time, Part-Time, or College Credit Plus (CCP) student enrolled at WSCO 
  •  Have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0

Play Athletics at the College Level
You can earn your Associate’s degree AND compete in collegiate Esports here at WSCO! We are a part of the NJCAA and students have the opportunity to play games like Overwatch, Valorant, Rocket League, and many more against other Junior College teams from all over the US.  
 
Skill Development Beyond Gameplay 
Collegiate Esports provide an excellent platform to enhance skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, and critical thinking. Players learn to collaborate effectively with teammates, strategize, and adapt to dynamic game situations. 
 
Networking Opportunities both on campus and outside campus 
Esports is a great way to meet friends! By participating in Esports, students can meet friends on campus as well as connect with industry professionals and potential employers. These connections can lead to internships, job opportunities, and valuable, real-world career opportunities.
 
Personal Growth and Job Transferable Skills
Esports programs foster personal development, boosting self-esteem, leadership abilities, and time-management skills. Students gain confidence as they compete, manage their schedules, and balance academics with competitive video gaming.
 
STEAM and Career Exploration 
Beyond gameplay, college Esports teams and clubs can offer opportunities to explore video editing, graphic design, broadcasting, marketing, and event planning. Students can delve into creative aspects related to Esports and gain practical experience.
